Babies!

Now I believe it! Spring is nearly here!

We are going to have babies! LOL  This is the first year since we put the pond in  5 years ago, that we have had tadpoles without bringing them in from outside!  I couldn't believe it when I went into the garden this morning.  There was a big kerfuffle in the pond and lots of ripples and splashes and then I spotted it......frogspawn! Yay! We now have a real wildlife pond.

Thank you everyone for your very kind support, my Mum has had a comfortable weekend and is saying she's bored so that must be a good sign!

Don't get upset when they all start eating one another! (I'm talking about the frogspawn, not your family here!!) If like me, you find that sad, we found a solution and managed to raise loads of little frogs. Try stringing bits of stewing steak onto string and putting it in the pond for them to eat. Just tiny bits but you need to do it more and more as they get bigger. We ended up doing it every day! Then we wondered what to do with all the hundreds of tiny frogs, and had to collect them in a net and take them to a new home.

A mixed blessing!

They say frogs are an indication that you live in a healthy environment, so yours must be pretty right.
I hope your mum's OK, it's a very worrying time for you.

Lots of little hoppers in there. Hope that your mother is continuing to improve.

I felt the same the first time we had frogspawn in our pond - it doesn't seem like a proper pond until that happens, does it? So glad your Mum's treatment is working.
